This week, we’re using a membrane with a different pore size (.45 um as opposed to .22 um). This is mostly due to the fact that we are almost out of the other membrane, and what we have left of it has small punctures through it, making it pretty much useless for our purposes. We’re running the same exact experiment we were running all last week with this new membrane and seeing if the larger pore size causes more (or quicker) membrane wetting/scaling.
On a side note, I’ve included a picture of the building our lab is located in, ISTB-4 at ASU Tempe. There’s also a really nice view from the third floor balcony (also pictured). It’s hot as heck out here (only 120 degrees…), but sitting on that balcony was actually a really nice change of scenery after spending a few hours in the lab! It’s my new favorite spot. 🙂
