This day I was able to do some field work. We visited points along the Rio Grande, staring at elephant butte reservoir ending up in Sunland park, Nm. This is the entry point into the city of el Paso, from the Rio Grande. I also had the opportunity to take measurements such as conductivity and  Ph using instruments that are designed to take these measurements in the field. I will be getting the chance to then perform water quality analysis on these samples, looking for salinity, but something that is increasingly catching my eye that I want to test for are endocrine disruptors that can happen from agriculture run off. Seeing one of the sources of our water was a great experience that I don’t think I would have gotten if I wasn’t in this program.
