Shannon has asked me to make a blog post regarding her temporary absence from the program.
Her house had an electrical fire earlier this week. Her mother was home at the time and was able to safely evacuate and call the fire department. Her cat, Magellan, was able to make it out safely as well. While the fire dep’t was quick to respond, the home was rendered unlivable by city officials due to the fire damage and firefighting efforts. Her family has found temporary housing and is currently dealing with the insurance claims process. Anjali, her mentor, is being very supportive throughout this ordeal and is very understanding of her situation.
I encourage everyone to reach out to Shannon and please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
