The 2019 NEWT REU started this week with an orientation at Rice together with the R-STEM REUs. We learnt about each other and the projects that the students will be working on this summer at ASU, Rice and UTEP.
We also toured the Rice campus with the whole group, here at James Turrell’s “Twilight Epiphany” Skyspace.

NEWT REUs at ASU:
- Paola Cahue will be working with Ana Barrios and Dr. François Perreault
- Shannon Malinda will spend the summer in Dr. Paul Westerhoff’s lab working with Anjali Mulchandani and Dr. Ariel Atkinson
- Roberto Martinez will work with Janice Baab (a 2018 NEWT REU!) in Dr. Candace Chan’s lab
