The moment I found out that I got into the NEWT REU at Rice University, I was ecstatic…until, I found out about two days of orientation… While I was in the United States Army, “Orientations” were 2 things annoying and painfully mind-numbingly dull. So when I heard about the two days of orientation, I was under the impression that I would be subjected to death by powerpoint all over again.
Imagine my surprise when on the first day of orientation, I actually enjoyed my time! I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE BORING, BUT THEY JUST HAD TO PROVE ME WRONG!!! If I didn’t have such a great time, I would be riveted! On a more serious note, Dr.Loyo and Dr.Owens made what would usually be a terrible time and made it something I actually look forward to. This is going to be an awesome summer!
Ps. Not to brag but My team and I dominated the marshmallow challenge kindergarten style.
