This week was awesome! I got more hands-on activity, and most importantly, my baby algae grew!! It took about ~4 days for two out of the three algae to grow. We began to do more research on the algae that wasn’t showing any signs of growth and found out that this alga (Euglena gracilis) takes longer to grow and it is also a mixotroph which means that can feed on photosynthesis as well phagocytosis which I think is very interesting. I had no idea that such a thing existed!!
Also, we created a bigger setup where the algae that showed the most growth ( S. Obliquus) was going to keep growing in more media.
