It turns out that in order to find the best way to make a film out of your gel is to try just about anything. From glass slides, spin coaters, and Teflon sheets, I’ve used just about any method I could think of to form the perfect film for FTIR. Unfortunately, the FTIR machine has been down for the past week and there is no word on when it will be operational again. So, all I can do is keep experimenting.
Also, over the weekend the ASU NEWT REU team went as a group to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks play against the San Francisco Giants at Chase Field. We had a great time despite the outcome of the game. We’re planning to do a group activity every week.
