Ramen and Field Trips

The last few days managed to shake up the lab routine I was developing. First, I got to travel to New Mexico State University to use their Transmission Electron Microscope and I was able to see the nanoparticles I’ve been working on.

Dr. Loyo was in town this week  for the group meeting then treated us to the best (and only) ramen I’ve ever had in my life and also joined us on our field trip to the TecH2O Center.

The TecH2O center was an entertaining and informative. I learned a lot about the water and its use in my area and about the treatment process water goes through to reach us.

Back at the lab I’ve begun applying characterization techniques to the Boehmite particles I’ve made, which will likely be used for my poster. I need at least one gram before my experiment can begin and I currently have about .2 grams so I’ve also began more synthesis. I have about 8 vials in the desiccator waiting for me on Monday to be ground and be prepared for experimentation.
