‘M’ as in Mentor

This is Mariana Marcos,

I’m incredibly lucky to have her as my mentor this summer as part of REU NEWT 2018 in Dr. Villagran’s lab. She likes tiny diet cokes, fitness, and she’s really into that second season of 13 Reasons Why.

Now moving on to businesn she’s been beyond amazing since before the beginning. Mariana has been sharing articles with information she believed could help me gre t a better understanding of everything going on with our project with more detail. She’s originally from Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico and got her Bachelor Degree in Chemistry in the ‘Tecnológico de Monterrey.’ It’s great to have someone with similar origins working with you, and who understands that I don’t have a solid chemistry background as an engineering student. I’m looking forward to this summer and to this opportunity!

Also, she really dislikes this picture because her coat is dirty.

  1. A dirty lab coat is the sign of a good organic chemist, Mariana should be proud! (However, analytical chemists like me favor immaculate lab coats, nobody is perfect!)
